SOBA-NRW e.V. is an organization initiated by some alumni of Sasse college residing in Germany.
Traced back to social gatherings in the late 1990s and early 2000s, some SOBANs chatted about creating an organization of SOBANs in NRW. Those chats were followed up with a couple of email threads and in July 2003 the first convention was held in Dortmund.
Over a four-year period, the association evolved into a registered one under the German legislation with meetings held on every second Saturday of the month.
The organization which pioneers socio-philanthropic ambitions, has outstanding individuals with the potential to conceive, plan and implement valuable and respectable solutions.
The pioneering spirit proliferating the organization is a testimony of values engraved in our attitudes with the pride of taking the responsibility of living our visions instead of dreaming our lives.
Characteristics encouraged in the organization include:
A sense of attachment to and reinforcement of the prestige of Sasse college.
A sense of attachment to and the willingness to participate in the development of Cameroon
An obligation to assist associates in times of need.
The promotion of responsibility, politeness and all the constructive virtues acquired from Sasse college.
A general concern for the welfare, beauty and development of Sasse college.
A socio-philanthropic approach to the welfare and development of humanity through the assistance of deserving NGOs and personalities who engage in the development of their communities.
Founded in 1939, Sasse College is one of the oldest educational institutions in Cameroon.
The college is training outstanding personalities in all avenues of life.
Near the Buea Mountain, high above the sea stands St. Joseph's college.
As the story goes, this is a place for you and me.
We came here at different times in life, from different places of the world, got our training and left as SOBANS.
The training one gets in Sasse College is seamless, thus easing SOBANS of different ages and personalities to commune harmoniously in a manner unique to SOBANS.
